Distribution functions

Some reliability parameters (probability, density and rate of default) for various distribution functions (at present: exponential distribution, Weibull distribution, log-normal distribution) are shown here graphically. The representation range can be customised using the lower slider of the axis values. You can change the corresponding function parameters by adjusting the other sliders (inactive sliders are shown in light grey).

Parameter estimation

The following program can be used to adjust exemplary empirical performance data
(shows as blue dots) by hand using a theoretical distribution function (shown as a blue curve). Give it a try and see which distribution is most suitable. The coefficient of determination should be greater than 99.5%. Can you achieve 99.6%?

 

The Wuppertal Reliability Forecast Model uses the parameter estimation method to mathematically adjust empirical data through a theoretical distribution.
